Frequency has a few ways to talk directly, beyond posting in your feed.
Direct messages
- DMs are 1:1. One person, one thread. You need to be friends with someone before starting a DM, so add them first.
Rooms (group chats)
- A group chat is a private room: start one and add the people you want.
- Rooms are ongoing group spaces, distinct from one-off DMs. Crew members (the membership) and community leaders (hosts and up) can also create open/shared rooms.
- Channel rooms. Every Channel has one open room. Anyone can read it; tune into the channel to post. You'll see the rooms you're tuned into in your Messages, and an Open room button on each Channel.
Who's around
A small green dot on someone's avatar means they're active right now, so you can see who's around to chat at a glance, in your messages and across the directory.
Search a room
Open any room and tap Search in the header to find past messages. It searches by meaning, not just exact words, so "the hike on Saturday" surfaces the right thread even if it was worded differently.
Tips
- Use DMs for the personal stuff and your feed/circle for things the whole group should see.
- Notifications keep you on top of replies; tune them in Settings.
