QR codes & checking in

Frequency codes turn showing up in the real world into Zaps. Scan one to check in and earn; share your own code so people you meet can find you.

Scanning a code to earn

You'll see Frequency QR codes on posters, plaques, and at events.

• Point your phone's camera at the code. No special app needed.
• Some plaques and stickers are also NFC tags: just tap your phone to them (no camera needed) and the same page opens.
• You'll land on a check-in page. Tap Claim to earn your Zaps.
• A check-in also counts as a verified practice: proof you really showed up.

Each code sets its own rules: some you can claim once, some every time you visit, and some are limited to the first set number of people. If a code has expired, you've already claimed it, or it's reached its limit, the page will tell you.

Some codes are location-aware: you can only claim them while you're actually there. Your phone may ask to share your location when you tap Claim; if you're too far away (or don't share it), the page lets you know.

Your personal code

Open My code (from your account menu) to see your own QR. You have one personal code, and it does double duty.

• Connect: it points to your profile, so anyone who scans it can send you a friend request or a message.
• Invite: anyone who scans it and then joins Frequency is credited to you. It's your referral code too.
• Make it yours: tap Customize to restyle it (colors, shape, logo), and Download to save it as a PNG or SVG, handy for a wallpaper, a name tag, or a slide when you're hosting.
• Contact card: turn on Contact card to let people tap Save contact when they scan you, and it saves a vCard to their phone. You choose exactly what it shares (your photo, and optionally an email, phone, title, or website); nothing you don't fill in is included.

Partner codes

Some codes belong to local partners. Scanning one opens that partner's current member offer at the counter. Partner codes reward you with the offer rather than a verified practice.

Scavenger hunts & campaigns

Sometimes a set of codes forms a campaign: a scavenger hunt. Scan the codes in the set (all of them, or any few, depending on the hunt) and you complete the challenge for a bonus Zap reward.

• You'll find these alongside your other challenges under The Quest → Challenges, with a progress bar showing how many you've scanned.
• Each code counts once, so revisiting the same one won't move the bar. Go find the next.
